I did (somewhat) better this month! I even have two more books halfway finished in preparation for October. I seriously hope I can keep this up, this is great.
First, I finally decided to just finish up the Pretty Little Liars series. God this series was long. I don’t regret reading it, but good lord. First this month, I read Crushed (Pretty Little Liars #13) by Sara Shepard.
Next on the “finish PLL” trek is the next in the series, Deadly. I actually almost considered just stopping at this point, but I persevered. I won’t comment further on this one.
This one, Toxic, was a little better than the last. I was still shaking my head at all the stupid things the girls were doing, but there was enough counteracting what they were doing for it not to be a total, constant, head-shaking headache.
I broke the order I finished them in a little here, but I also finished Viscous this month, the final book in the Pretty Little Liars main line, and while the ending wasn’t horrible, I am so glad it’s over. I was a pretty good ride, but it just took way too long to get there. I still have to read the last two books, but they can wait for now.
And, finally this month, I read The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. Since I will not be doing a review, I’ll give a more in-depth thoughts blurb on this one. I liked it a lot, for one thing. I absolutely love historical fiction of any kind, and this was the first time I had read one set in Amsterdam, period. It was really interesting seeing how they lived and how things worked from the view of an 18-year-old newlywed. However, it didn’t quite go how I was expecting. I liked the story line, no question there, but something was missing. I think I was expecting more of an omph or a twist of some sort, but somehow nothing I was given was surprising to me. It was still a good read, though.
And that’s all I read this month! Since I have two more books about halfway finished, I should be able to keep up into the next month.
Thanks for reading!
