My 2016 Reading Resolutions (And Then Some)

Happy 2016 everybody!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been looking at my TBR shelves and cringing hardcore. I have so many books I need to read and I haven’t really been pushing myself to get them read, and that needs to change. So… I’ve centered my reading goals around this, and here’s what I’ve come up with:

#1
100-Book Goodreads Reading Challenge

I only read 50 this past year, and that definitely wasn’t enough for me. I was thinking about going for 75, but then I went and listed my shelves of books I need to read and decided 75 wasn’t enough. So, 100 it is. Wish me luck, I’m intimidated beyond belief.

#2
Read 5 Before You Buy — With a Twist

I’m going to take part in the read 5 before you buy challenge, but in my case, it must be 5 books already on my shelves that I read before I either buy a new book or borrow one from the library. The goal this year is to knock out books I already own so I can make room on my shelves for new books. Exceptions will be made for books from Netgalley, as they may need to be read by a certain date.

#3
Posts Every Monday and Friday

I’ve already started on this, but this past year I was somewhat sketchy with my posting. This year, I’m going to try to post something at least every Monday and Friday. Expect a lot of book reviews.

#4
Readathons Galore!

In order to complete my goals, I’m probably going to need to take part in more readathons. I’m already signed up for Bout of Books 16, but I plan on taking part in a bunch more. If you have a favorite, let me know when it is! I’m not totally familiar with all the different readathons there are out there.

#5
Reading Challenges!

PopSugar’s 2016 Ultimate Reading Challenge

I’ve printed out the guide for this one, and as I check them off I’ll update via Twitter and Wrap-Ups.

Modern Mrs. Darcy 2016 Reading Challenge

The same goes for this one! I’ll most likely be allowing myself to count some books for both challenges, since I don’t want to stress myself out with this. I don’t want to make reading a chore.

And that’s about what I’ve decided for myself book/reading-wise. There may be more added onto it as the year progresses, but this is the core of what I want to be able to accomplish, which is why it’s somewhat skimpy. I’d really like to accomplish it, though.

What are your New Year’s Resolutions? 2016 reading goals? I’d love to know!

Thanks for reading!
