It took me way, way, way too long to get around to reading this final book in the Across the Universe series, and I regret not getting to it immediately. It was so good. As if Revis hadn’t built a great story from the very beginning (and she definitely had), the continuation in this third and final book just shows how much thought went into the whole story, in each and every book.

Like I’ve said previously, I’m a sucker for anything set in space or on new planets (especially on new planets), and the fact this entire series is set in nothing but both of those is just outright perfect. Again, don’t know why I waited so long to finish the series. Following Amy and Elder as they go through their struggles and doubts about the journey they’re ending and the adventure they’re beginning is familiar at this point, and Revis’ easy writing-style and short chapters just makes the whole book fly. I want to pick up another of her books, probably the one coming out this year.

My biggest complaint (well, okay, my biggest complaint would be the cover change, but aside from that) would have to be that there isn’t more. I want an epilogue, a short story, something that comes after so I can know more about the world and what happened after everything that happened in the book. I know there are a couple shorts already, but I don’t know if they’re about what I want them to be about. I’ll check them out.

All in all, a really great third installment to an already really great series. I was in tatters and sitting on the edge of my seat at more than one point, wondering and hoping what we were being told wasn’t true, or that, by some miracle, would be reversed. My heart ached a few times, I was giddy a few others; the whole journey Revis put me on was beyond worth the book hangover I now have. Five stars earned.

Onto the next book! (Expect more space. Of the stellar variety.)
