May 2016 | Wrap-Up

I’m still trying to figure out if this month was even real.

To me, it doesn’t even feel like a single month went by. I feel like it’s been closer to two or three, with not only all of the reading I got done, but with all the things I did. Steadily cleaning out my shelves so there’s less to move with, working on a massive cosplay, going to the annual anime convention I always go to (more on that in a later post). It blows my mind that I managed to read 15 books and 5 novellas this month.

I also took part in my favorite readathon, Bout of Books, which helped my reading quite a bit and probably threw me on the fast-reading train that I took the rest of the month. So many book reviews in my drafts! Keep an eye out for those, I’m really behind on publishing them.

What I read this month:

The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater // ★★★★★ // Review
All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr // ★★★★★ // Review to come
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls // ★★★★★
Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner // ★★★★★ // Review to come

The Cypress Project by Gennifer Albin // ★★★☆☆ // Review
The Department of Alterations by Gennifer Albin // ★★★★☆ // Review
The Rain is a Lie by Gennifer Albin // ★★★★☆ // Review
The Girl in the High Tower // ★★★★☆ // Review

Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli // ★★★★★ // Review to come
Pride & Prejudice & Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith // ★★★★☆
Jackaby by William Ritter // ★★★★☆ // Review
Beastly Bones by William Ritter // ★★★★☆ // Review

The Selection by Kiera Cass // ★★★☆☆ // Review
The Elite by Kiera Cass // ★★★☆☆ // Review to come
The One by Kiera Cass // ★★★★☆ // Review to come
The Heir by Kiera Cass // ★★★★☆ // Review to come

Shadow by Amanda Sun // ★★★★☆ // Review
Ink by Amanda Sun // ★★★★☆ // Review to come
Rain by Amanda Sun // ★★★★☆ // Review to come
Storm by Amanda Sun // ★★★★☆ // Review to come

~~~
So, as you can see, I have a lot of reviews that are to come. They’re all written out, they just need to be formatted and queued, which I didn’t have the time for last week. Expect a ton of reviews over the next few weeks so I can get caught up!
I only took part in one readathon this month, Bout of Books 16. You can find my TBR here and my wrap-up here. I hope to take part in at least one during the month of June, but I have no idea what readathons are going on. I’ll need to look into it.
Another note to make is my Goodreads goal, which has been bumped up to 110 due to my extensive reading this month. I got 10 books ahead of my goal and decided it needed a boost. If that ever reaches 20 books ahead (which, I doubt it will), I’ll immediately bump it to 120. There’s a chance I’ll bump it anyway one of these days, but for now, my new Goodreads goal is 110.
And there’s my (extremely long) wrap-up for the month! Will I keep up the pace I’ve started? Probably not, but here’s hoping!
Thanks for reading!
  1. Wow! You read so much this month! I’m so happy to see someone else review the Ink series, it’s been sitting on my shelf for the longest time.
    1. I don’t see a whole lot of it around, oddly enough. It’s really a different series and you’d think there would be more people picking up on that!
  2. OMG you’ve read so much! I’m jealous! I have so much to read and so little time! Hopefully with summer here I will have more time to finish books 🙂 I’ve been looking to read the Raven boys so I can’t wait to see your review!
  4. Holy cow, you read a lot this month. I read Jackaby last month and really liked it. I just got Beastly Bones so I’m hoping to get to that in June! You read some interesting books that I’ve never heard of before so I’ll have to take a look into them.
    1. My reaction was the same when I went back to see how I did! I hope you enjoy Beastly Bones, I’m interested in seeing what you think of/rate it!
