I certainly can’t.
Once again, I’ve gone again and completely ruined my “read 5 before you buy” challenge that I had set for myself at the beginning of this year … but, to be totally frank, I don’t even care. These books were a dollar, and my TBR list is already ridiculously long and impossible, what’s a few more books added onto it?
Speaking of, I need up update my TBR shelf, both the list of books I have on it and the number I’ve read so far. I’ll get around to that at some point.
For now, the books I got!
First on the list is Strands of Bronze and Gold by Jane Nickerson, which is a retelling of Blubeard. If you’ve been here while, you’ll know I’m pretty nuts for retellings of any kind, and I’ve actually yet to read one for Bluebeard, as far as I’m aware. Alongside that we have Shadow of the Mark by Leigh Fallon, the second book in the Carrier trilogy. I own the first one, but I haven’t read it yet because Fallon has been somewhat MIA on the status of her third book. Has anyone heard word on what’s going on there? I can’t seem to find any information at all, and I don’t want to have a George R. R. Martin with this series.
Next we have Zom-B Angels by Darren Shan. I don’t have any of the other books in the series, but, if you remember from my last Dollar Tree book haul, I do like Darren Shan quite a lot, so I figured I might as well get one of his books and figure out the rest from there. As for Phoenix by Elizabeth Richards, I do already own the first book in this series. I just have to read it.
(See what I meant by “my TBR is ridiculous”? It really is.)
Following that we have Mystic City by Theo Lawrence, which I know nothing about. I just liked the cover. I also liked the title of the next one, Boys, Girls & Other Hazardous Materials by Rosalind Wiseman, though I don’t know what this one is about either.
Second to last, I picked up Night Film by Marisha Pessl, which I have heard about and am pretty excited to read. The only thing I’m not thrilled about is how heavy this book is. Seriously, I could knock myself out with it. And, finally, Archetype by M.D. Waters, which I only picked up for the cover. I have no idea what this one is about, aside from what I can glean from Goodreads.
And that was my book haul from the Dollar Tree! I might have to be a little more careful about wandering into those from now on, not for the sake of my wallet, but possibly for the sake of my sanity. I’m already heartbroken over the possibility that I’ll never read all the books I have on there already, with so many books coming out all the time, I don’t need to add to it!
Have you read any of these books? Heard about them? Let me know your opinions, good or bad!
Thanks for reading!
