Fire Emblem: Heroes | First Impressions

So, if you didn’t know, I’m a huge fan of the Fire Emblem franchise. I’ve played almost all of the North American-released games, with the exception being Fates, because it’s a lot of money to drop on 2+ games (there’s also DLC), and I want to get them both at once instead of one after the other … for reasons. Regardless, haven’t managed to stow away enough funds to do that quite yet, so they’re next on the list once I get around to it!

Anyway, just the other day (three days ago, I think, by the time I post this?), Heroes was released — and it’s free! It’s an app, rather than a 3DS/WiiU/whatever game, and I actually think it’s a really good play on the typical Fire Emblem set-up. It has a little bit of a learning curve, mostly because you move a little differently and long-range weapons of all kinds are purely long-range and act like your standard bow, but otherwise it’s not hard to figure out.

I really love the artwork they chose for many of the characters, but I will admit the older ones (such as Roy, Catrina, etc.) have a little too old school anime-esque art style for me, I really like the newer art styles myself.

Although I don’t love it as much as the standard gaming style Fire Emblem has, I do really like the way they’ve decided to go about making it an app. This might change once the Release Bonus things expire, but for the moment, it’s a lot of fun and I’m having a blast fighting and summoning all the different characters.

If you plan on playing, do so soon! You want to get a taste of the bonuses the release is giving, because it’ll probably get more difficult once those are gone.

All in all, fun app and definitely on the way to being one of my favorites!

Do you already play it? Have you summoned anyone yet? Who did you get? There are hundreds of options, apparently! I managed to get Done first-go, so I’m super happy already. I love his character so much.

Thanks for reading!
