We all have (or, well, a lot of us do) that one author that we love, about to put out a new book (hopefully), that we go ahead and buy the book from even if we don’t know what the book is about. Maybe we have more than one, and that helps to ease the wait for the next book release. Maybe we have a bunch, and we’re buying books left and right.
Either way, there’s probably someone out there that you’ll buy a book from without caring what’s inside it, because you love something about that author and their work that much.
I’ve got a hearty handful of authors myself, and here are … well the title says “a few” but in actuality, it’s all of them. Go big or go home.
Maggie Stiefvater
I haven’t read all of her series, but I’m working on it. In the meantime, I’m auto-buying her new book (it’s on pre-order), even though I have no idea what it’s about.
Ruta Sepetys
I’ve read all three of her books and I’m ready and willing for the next one, which is supposedly set in Spain during the 1950s! Bring it to me.
Laini Taylor
I am so ready for Strange the Dreamer!
Marissa Meyer
More, please.
Meagan Spooner & Amie Kaufman
I haven’t read any books that they’ve written on their own (though, I do have Illuminae, by Amie with Jay Kristoff), but I am 100% down for auto-buying when they’re together and I can’t wait for their next book, coming in 2018. I also plan on picking up their own separate novels (Amie’s aren’t published yet, but Meagan’s are) at some point.
I only just realized after writing this that it’s an all-female list, but. Hey. They’re some damn good writers, and I don’t have a male auto-buy author. (Yet.)
Thanks for reading!
Marissa Meyer has definitely found a spot on my auto-buy authors list too! I loved The Lunar Chronicles and Heartless was pretty awesome too! I just need to get my hands on Wires and Nerve already! I’ve also recently added Leigh Bardugo to my list!
