Top 5 Wednesday | Books That Would Make Good Video Games

Top Five Wednesday is a weekly meme created by GingerReadsLainey and hosted Sam from Thoughts On Tomes over on Goodreads. This week’s topic is top 5 books I think would make good video games.

I love this topic!! And I’m super excited to see what everyone else puts.

I didn’t include books that already have video games (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones). I’m pretty sure none of these have video games, but I might be wrong!

These are also in no particular order, even though they’re numbered.

5

10507293-1

The Selection by Kiera Cass. While loosely following the storyline, or maybe it could just be an old selection, I feel like this would make a really good dating game! Like… uh, Harvest Moon without the farming? I’m blanking on games that have dating at the moment, but I’m sure you get what I mean.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. How cool would it be to have a Hunger Games-style survival game?

3

25326838

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken. You could probably actually just turn this storyline straight into a time-travel video game.

2

10194157

Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo. I think it would be pretty cool to train and fight the war as a Grisha in this world. Or maybe make it an Elder Scrolls-style game where you’re the next Sankta. Or something along those lines.

13138635

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner. I think an open-ended adventure game where you can travel the galaxy and witness the events of this game (as much as you can, anyway) would be so cool!

And an honorary mention of a book I’m pretty much expecting to be made into a game at some point:

256683

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. I’m just waiting for it to happen.

Thanks for reading!

  1. A Shadow & Bone-based RPG game (or, as you said, like Elder Scrolls) would be pretty darn amazing. I also love the idea of a survival Hunger Games. Creating alliances/enemies and what not. Gosh, the possibilities are endless! Really nice picks! 😀
