It’s Time to Shame Myself || Cover-Buys I Haven’t Read Yet

Not all of them, because then this post would be MASSIVE. If I do a second one, I’ll just slap a “part one” on the title or something.

Anyway, cover-buys. You know you’ve done it, at least once in your life. (Right? Everyone’s done it once, right? At least?)

Me, though? I do it all the damn time, and it’s a problem. I am such a sucker for a pretty cover that most of the time I don’t really bother figuring out what the book is about before just up and slapping my card on top of it at the register. I used to do it so much more, but I’ve slowed down significantly due to my need to hold my goddamn horses when it comes to buying books.

(I say it’s a problem, but it’s a problem because there are so many pretty books out there. I’m pretty easy to please when it comes to books, so I very rarely regret my cover-buys.)

Now, I present to you, some of the books I have bought solely because of the cover … that I have not read yet. Shame me. Bring a bell. Ring it loud.

Magona by Maria Dahvana Headley || This cover is just. So pretty. I love it so much. I’ve heard people have very mixed feelings about this one (and it’s just-as-gorgeous sequel), so I’ve yet to pick it up.

Zodiac by Romina Russel || I just really love space, okay. Also, the zodiac has a special place in my heart. I couldn’t not.

♦ The Vespertine by Saundra Mitchell || A different kind of cover-buy from the others, as I actually picked this one up because the little blurb on the front mentioned “historical novel” and I’m a mess for historical fiction.

Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter || I love Alice in Wonderland adaptations/retellings, soooo. The dress was a super plus because I find it really pretty.

I you follow my Instagram, you saw this one already. 😉

Sylo by D.J. MacHale || The colors on this one are just so pretty. I love purple. Plus, it’s shiny. The other two novels in the trilogy also have stunning covers, so I’m hoping it’s a good series so I can justify buying the others and putting their pretty selves on my shelves.

Pulse by Patrick Carman || Okay, look at this. It’s a freakin’ tree in the air. Just all up there and hanging out. Don’t know what it means, but it looks so cool.

Both of these are super shiny, but I couldn’t capture that, so here we are.

Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck || Yeah, I’m a sucker for tigers. Cats, in general, but I am super partial to tigers (and snow leopards and black panthers), and since this was also shiny, there was no telling it no. I had to buy it. The rest of the books are just as pretty. Prettier, even.

The Map of Time by Felix J. Palma || The photo does this book no justice, because it’s gorgeous. I love love love this cover, the bits behind the silhouette are all shiny and iridescent and just ugh. So pretty. If I like this one, I’m so buying it in hardcover. I only paid fifty cents for this copy, so I think that’ll be okay. Right?

And there are some of the books I’ve bought based on their covers that I still have not read. I know, it’s so bad. And there are more.

But … they’re pretty?

(I’m working on my physical TBR shelf, really. I am. I swear.)

Thanks for reading!
