The Hogwarts Tag

Just saw Zezee from ZezeewithBooks doing this one, and the tag was left open, so I thought, you know what, I want to do this.

And here we are.

I’m currently rereading the series with my mom (we’re on Goblet of Fire right now), so I think it’s pretty good timing to be pulling a Harry Potter-related tag out, never mind the fact we’ve technically been rereading them since, like, March. W/e.

Let’s do this!

Am I a pureblood, half-blood, or muggleborn?

This is difficult to decide. I am most definitely not a pureblood, if only because my family is so wildly varied (I can track a fair amount of my lineage to at least seven different parts of the world, but there’s also a line that we can’t figure out, so I could have roots in more places), but I was also somewhat of a black sheep in my family growing up? Actually, my whole family is the black sheep of the family, and then I used to be a little more black sheep than them, until I grew up and stopped being so stubborn about some things. Probably half-blood? Probably. I doubt muggleborn.

(Maybe muggeborn.)

Which wand chose me?

Ebony: This jet-black wand wood has an impressive appearance and reputation, being highly suited to all manner of combative magic, and to Transfiguration. Ebony is happiest in the hand of those with the courage to be themselves. Frequently non-conformist, highly individual or comfortable with the status of outsider, ebony wand owners have been found both among the ranks of the Order of the Phoenix and among the Death Eaters. In my experience the ebony wand’s perfect match is one who will hold fast to his or her beliefs, no matter what the external pressure, and will not be swayed lightly from their purpose.

Honestly I was really happy with that outcome. I’d be the kid picking all the fights with her wand (and other people’s wands, on request), simply to see if the “suited to all manner of combative magic” bit was true.

Phoenix Feather: This is the rarest core type. Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike.

Length: 10″

Possibly because I’m shorter than average here in America. I’m 5’2″.

Flexibility: Slightly springy.

Did I take an owl, cat, rat, or toad with me?

A cat! Definitely a cat.

Where did the Sorting Hat put me?

What house did I want to be in?

I didn’t have a preference! The very first time I took a test (back before we had any real grounds for figuring it out besides the very basics — I’m old, okay), I kind of wanted to be a Ravenclaw because I loved reading, and then a Hufflepuff because Tonks was a Hufflepuff and I loved her, but I’ve almost always been put in Gryffindor (but never Hufflepuff :’D). I’m okay with this, and I love my House now. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

What lessons are my favorite and least favorite?

Defense Against the Dark Arts, Care of Magical Creatures, and Charms would probably be my favorites.

I would most likely dislike Arithmancy (I loathe math) and Herbology (not a fan of plants, also allergic to many). Possibly also Divination, since I’m kind of bored by the idea as it is. I’d enjoy seeing what other people get from it, but I’d be bored myself sitting in it.

The form my patronus takes:

patronus

A Tonkinese Cat!

I’ll admit, I was mildly terrified the first time I took this quiz when it came out, because I was worried I’d get a patronus I wasn’t fond of (petty, I know). Imagine my excitement when the crazy cat lady got a cat as her patronus.

What does a boggart look like for me?

Honestly it would probably be the Minister of Magic or something (or Headmaster/Headmistress, someone of authority) telling me there was a mistake and that I wasn’t really a witch and would have to go back and live alone with the muggles.

Do I partake in any magical hobbies or school sports?

I would totally try to be on the Quidditch team. I probably wouldn’t make it, since I’m not very good at sports and I am extremely competitive, and would then just spend my time reading and wandering the castle. At the same time.

Where would I find myself hanging in my free time?

If not doing what was stated previously, I’d probably be in the Gryffindor common room a lot.

What would I most likely get detention for?

Dueling and accidentally hurting someone. Using other people’s wands and losing them when I use a spell wrong and it goes flying. Sneaking into the kitchens at night (because I’d totally have a Hufflepuff friend who could help me get in).

Can you get detention for seeping in another House’s common room? Because I’d end up doing that a lot, whichever Houses I’d have friends in.

What career do I want after leaving Hogwarts?

Probably a Magizoologist, since I actually did want to work with animals for a long time before college. I ended up not doing that, but as a witch I might have considered it further. Or, possibly, a professor, since I’m a teacher now.

That’s the end of the tag! If you’d like to do it, go ahead!

Thanks for reading!

  1. Lol! You’re a rebel.
And lucky you got a cat. I was hoping for a cat too, like a cheetah or jaguar or something, if I didn’t get a panda, which I didn’t but oh well.

    1. Me: afraid of getting kicked out.
Also me: keeps breaking rules just to keep hanging out with friends from other houses.
And I know right, I couldn’t believe my luck! I kind of want to take it again and see if it changes.
