Something a little different since I’m not doing this week’s T5W, but I also just want to post something. Sorry it’s not bookish! (Unless you’re one of those people who can listen to music while reading — I’m not! Unless it’s without vocals, then I do all the time.)
I frequently listen to a lot of covers on YouTube, and they’re possibly one of my favorite things to listen to. Maybe tied with mash-ups. I love a good cover, and if I end up loving it even more than the original, then I’m over the moon. However, I’m very picky about my covers. Which is kind of funny, since I’m easily sucked in by a pretty book cover, even if it doesn’t always blow my mind.
All of these covers (save maybe Demi’s, Prince is a hard one to beat, but she comes damn close) top the originals in my book:
Daniela’s voice? Ugh. I love her covers, but this song has a backstory for me, and her vocals with it just hit me in a good way.
Like I said, Prince is hard to beat, but man. I’m impartial to Demi overall, but this is a fantastic cover.
Enjoyed the original. Loved this cover. Don’t know what it is about it, but I really, really love it.
Now, I had my time being obsessed with the wonderful Adele’s Rolling in the Deep. However, always been a bit more rock with my tastes, so when this was covered and hardened just a smidgen? Well, it was all over for me.
Aaand finally … the song I am THE MOST PICKY ABOUT, FOREVER AND ALWAYS. If it’s not covered exactly how I want to hear it, I will not like it. I’m sorry. I am so picky about this song. This cover? This cover is good. I like this one. Others? Not so much.
But this one is good.
