Monthly Recommendations: Required Reading

Monthly recommendations is a Goodreads group hosted by Kayla Rayne and Trina @Between Chapters. September’s topic is required reading, or books you didn’t have as required reading in school but wish you had.

There are a TON of these for me, because, for some reason, it seems like I just didn’t have that many to read? Lots of Shakespeare, but not many books. Unfortunately, still haven’t read a lot of the books, but here’s a few I wish I had while still in school:

48855

Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

Definitely wish we had read this one. I didn’t learn much about the Holocaust while in school, most of what I knew at the time was from my own independent research, but I feel it really should be taught more. Or, at least, read.

18373

Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes

I admit this one might have been a little too mature for most high school grades, but seniors could probably handle it.

1885

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Or, really, any of those vein of classics. We didn’t read any of them, and I really wish we had!

… Well, that was a short list. I really need to read more classics, yeesh.
