The Moth & the Flame is about Despina and Jalal, and somewhat of an origin story of the relationship of theirs that you see in the main series. Personally, I think it was my favorite out of the three short stories.
Despina was one of the most interesting characters, in my opinion, so it was great to have a set of chapters from her point of view to get a better idea of what was happening in her head. I would like more, especially after what happened in The Rose and the Dagger!

Too short! Much, much too short! I adore Khalid, and while it was really nice to get a little snippet of his perspective from when he met Shahrzad, I wished this had been longer than it ended up being. I guess it was just intended to be a small little piece, just about the one subject of Khalid and his side of the meeting, but I would like there to be more of these. I want to be inside Khalid’s head, and this one (and the following one) are not enough!

Augh, still too short! This one was my favorite of the two Khalid stories, though. I loved seeing how differently Khalid had become between the first story, The Crown & the Arrow, and this one. I enjoyed the interactions Khalid had with Jalal (I love Jalal), and the fact we were able to understand how he felt coming back to ruins, but I just wish it had been longer!
Good shorts, even if they were, well, short. More, please!
