Stranger Things: The Game | First Impressions

Okay, I know I did a Stranger Things post yesterday, but I didn’t know at the time that an app game for the show existed! Once I found out, I quickly downloaded it and spent a good portion of my time trying my best to get through a couple chapters before blabbing all about it on my blog. Like I am right now.

WHAT IS IT?

Stranger Things: The Game is an app game you can find in both the App Store and on Google Play, and it’s based on both season one and season two of the Stranger Things Netflix series. The story in it takes place between the seasons, and gives you a good hint to some of the bits that will take place in the season to come. Not huge spoilers, I think, but small things, like Joyce’s relationship.

What’s really cool about it, is if you fully beat the whole game, you get to watch a sneak peak bit to the second season that is likely already all over YouTube, since the game came out October 4th. I’m late to the party!

I’m only on chapter 3 as I type this, but I don’t think it’s a super long game anyway. I think I’m about halfway through? Anyway.

My favorite thing about the game as a whole was probably the style, because I absolutely adore the way they designed it. The animations, the backgrounds, the retro-look. Love it. I want to play more games in this style, so now I’ll have to go see if I can find more to play on my phone.

As for the actual gameplay: some of the puzzles are actually kind of hard. I’m not used to the style of the game and I frequently miss-tap what I mean to, but I would chalk that up to my lack of experience and not any fault of the game. It’s a super easy interface and I’m sure if you’re more used to it, you’d be fine. It was a lot of fun running around as the different characters and locating the items I needed to either move on or just get bits from others to help me along as I got further in the game.

I’ll be trying my hardest to get the full 100%, even though it looks like it’ll be at least somewhat hard! Wish me luck 😉

I suggest checking it out if you haven’t already and enjoy a pocket game to tide you over once in a while. It really passes the time.

Thanks for reading!
