July 2019 #24in48 Readathon Sign-Up! (and TBR?)

Hell yeah, time for one of my favorite readathons again! I do way better with these short ones than I do the long ones, even though I also love the long ones.

I’ll start simple and link the website right here, where you can both sign up and check the extra information!

As for what I’ll dish about it: this is a readathon where you try to read 24 hours worth of reading in 48! Or, a day’s worth in two. It starts July 20th at 12:00 AM and ends at 11:59 PM on Sunday. Official timezone is EST.

Easy, right? Well, not for me! I didn’t get a full 24 hours last time (I never have, maybe I will this time!), but I did get 20 in, and I obliterated my goals in the process. Audiobooks are my saving grace!

For goals I would like to:

  • Read at least TWO (2) books
    • Back in January I smashed this. Can I manage two books this time?! Stay tuned to find out!
  • Read at least 600 pages
    • Since I can listen to books pretty fast (and most of my reading will be audibly this time around), I think 600 pages should be beyond easy.
  • Participate in a reading sprint?
    • I love these. I need to make sure I do at least one this time.

And the books I’m going to try to get to:

Incarceron and Sapphique by Catherine Fisher

liberator

Liberator by Richard Harland

alice in Zombieland

Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter

      1. Oh shoot, I’m sorry! I thought my reply posted, but it hadn’t.

Usually what I do is the first day I’ll cram in as many hours as I possibly can and then finish what I couldn’t do the next day. I learned the hard way that if I try to plan my hours, I end up utterly failing to keep them! I think most people try for 12 and 12, though!

      2. I usually just try to read as much as I can on the first day but by the time the second day comes around I’m burnt out. I’m trying to figure out a way that will keep me motivated for the whole readathon.

      3. Oh, shoot. Maybe breaking it up evenly will work better for you? Or reading only enough that you don’t get burnt out the first day and then reading all the rest the second so there so chance of being burnt out the following day? I’m sure there’s something!

      4. I don’t think I said this in the first response but it’s totally fine. I have though I responded before and then realized later that I hadn’t.

I was thinking of trying 4 hours reading 4 hours not and so forth but since I usually don’t read through the night I don’t know that that would actually work.

      5. It’s probably worth a shot! Maybe reading 4, then 6 for one and only taking a 2 hour break at one of the points? This readathon is so tricky, probably why I’ve never gotten the full 24 hours 😂 good luck with whatever you end up doing, though!
