My 2020 Goodreads Year in Books!

200 books! I managed to read 200 books this year!

That’s unheard of for me!

I will absolutely not be doing it in 2021, I’m telling you now. For a while there, I was sure I wasn’t going to make it. Alas, I pulled through in the end (and with a couple days to spare on top of that), and I now present to you my 2020 year in books!

70,000 pages across 200 books. I feel like that’s pretty decent! Last year it was something like 60k pages across 180 books, so that seems like it measures out pretty okay.

Miss Maas coming in hot with that chonker of a book. Average length is about what I’d expect, since I typically read average-sized books and 350 is pretty average.

Very unsurprising. I reread The Hunger Games with my friend, who had never read them before, and I’m pretty sure that was the only extremely popular series I read this year that was also old enough to have the following it does. As for the least popular — yeah. I hated that whole series, so I’m not surprised the last book is the one with the least amount of shelves.

OOP–

Well, better than last year at least, right? Last year it was a 2.7 star average, so I went up by .1 of a star average!

… I’m very harsh on ratings, apparently. I never used to be this bad. Darn you, encroaching bitter old lady status!

And that was my 2020 Goodreads year in books! Maybe next year will be better, since I am absolutely not reading as many books as I did this year. I’m probably setting my goal at a nice even 120 books (so a round 10 a month) and leaving it at that.

I do not plan on eating my words!

(Watch me eat my words.)

Thanks for reading!

  1. I don’t think 2.8 is that harsh. You just know what you like, and unfortunately, read a lot of stuff in 2020 that didn’t meet/exceed your expectations.

Keep keepin’ it real – those are the reviews/ratings that are the most helpful.

  2. I can’t believe you read past The Blessed! What a terrible hot mess of a book the first one was, I could not waste anymore time on the rest of the trilogy.

    1. It was not easy, lemme yell ya!!! I wanted to give up SO BADLY. Like, I don’t know if it was just me, but half of the time I was just like, “… Okay? And?” and I feel like you’re not supposed to go through a series hum-drumming along, but I seriously was. I just… couldn’t bring myself to care 😂

      1. Well, you’re braver than me! I could barely get through The Blessed and thank goodness I had gotten it for free. IT just made no sense! lol.

      2. It really didn’t! And even by the end, when it TELLS YOU about whether or not the girls were real saints, I was still unsure if they actually were. I kept reading out of hope that something good would come of it, but that just didn’t happen…

  3. I used to be optimistic like that, ok it starts bad maybe it will get better, it could get better, it might get better… Now the older I get, the easier to DNF! I don’t have time for books I’m not enjoying! 🙂
