Whoops, I did NOT read all the books I meant to read in September. Why? Well, Middlesex was way bigger than I thought it was, so I still have a little over a hundred pages left before I’m done (as of writing this, October 1st — I may actually be done now), and Wicked was just … so boring. I’ve read it before back in high school, and I vaguely remember being unimpressed, but I wanted to give it a second go before I donated the books and, well. Maybe not my smartest move. I’ll just have to read them in addition to my October TBR.
Speaking of!
October’s TBR
- Bloodrose by Andrea Cremer
- The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd-Jones
- The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys
- Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane
- The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu
- Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
Okay, so, not TECHNICALLY any books from my 21 in 2021 list, but plenty of books I do already own (literally all of them), which is also a goal of mine to always do. Read books I own! Which I definitely do not do enough of, even though I keep buying books. Maybe this month I’ll follow that a little better.
Now, the reasoning! Well, aside from the fact I own them.
Bloodrose is the last book in the Nightshade trilogy, which I started reading last month and IS part of my 21 in 2021, so I figured I’d include it so I can knock that off. I’m in the middle of the second book, Wolfsbane, as I type this, otherwise I’d have included that one too. The Bone Houses and The Kingdom of Back are both Owlcrate books that I’ve had for a while now, and just seem appropriate for October to dive into, along with both Shutter Island and Peregrine’s Home. I’ve read Peregrine’s Home before, a looooong time ago, but it was the original trilogy. I would love to read the whole series since I remember really enjoying them, but I can’t quite remember enough to just dive straight into the new trilogy. So! Time for a reread!
Thanks for reading!

I was supposed to read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children last month, but never got past chapter 2 – I need to try again this month!

Good luck! I really enjoyed the original three, I think it’s worth it once you push past the start!

Oh thanks for the reminder, I’ve been trying to get Shutter Island read for umm years and now I’ve actually pulled it out and put it on my physical TBR pile with my King books. Miss Peregrine! Very enjoyable first 3 books, not really necessary second 3 books. lol. I had a hard time getting into The Bone Houses but I ended up liking it overall. Happy October!

You’re welcome! 😀 Let me know what you thought of it once you’ve gotten to it! I’ve only ever seen the movie, but it was ten years ago, so I can’t actually remember what happened. I’ve heard that about the last three in Peregrine’s! I really like the first three, so, if nothing else, at least I’ll get to experience those again. SUPER excited for Bone Houses. Happy October!! ❤

I’ve also only seen the Shutter Island movie and it was many many years ago. I think I really only remember the twist! lol.
