I FORGOT.
I knew there was something I was forgetting when I posted my wrap-up, but my mind kept going to the reviews I had intended to post last month before getting sick. At least it’s only a day late! And, also, a little unnecessary, since I’m once again only going to put a few on the list. I’m VERY much in a mood lately, and I can’t nail down what exactly I want to be reading right now.
(I think Noor by Nnedi Okorafor was the answer, though. I borrowed it from my library on a whim after seeing it in my tagged list on Libby and deciding to read it instead of rereading my current Okorafor favorite, Remote Control, and it’s holding my attention really well. It’s SO good so far. It might end up being my favorite of hers to date.)

This month I would like to read The Secret of Chimneys by Agatha Christie for my Agatha Christie readathon I’m doing with my mom and sister, along with maybe The Murder of Roger Ackroyd if we get through Chimneys before the month’s up.
I also would like to continue on with the Legendborn Cycle by Tracy Deonn, Bloodmarked being the only book published so far. (It’s intended to eventually be a trilogy, right?) I wasn’t a huge fan of the pacing in Legendborn, but I don’t know if that was Deonn’s writing or just a debut book thing. The magic is so cool though, I want to keep going and hope the pacing agrees with me this time.
Next I want to read A Confusion of Princes by Garth Nix for Lala’s Buzzwordathon. The prompt this month is “emotions” and I decided to go with confusion. That counts, right?
Finally, I hope to get to one of my 23 in 2023 picks, but I’m not sure which one I want to aim for yet. It all depends on the Mood™ and what I end up feeling like reading. Your guess is as good as mine on which it’ll be!
Thanks for reading!

I’ve read Binti (all 3 novellas), Noor, Remote Control, and the 3 Akata Witch books (there NEEDs to be more, I refuse to accept that it’s only a trilogy). Binti is my favorite. Ugh I have yet to read a Garth Nix novel and I own the whole Abhorsen series!

Oooh if you ever get to Abhorsen before I do, please let me know how it is! I have the first three and they’re just sitting on my shelves staring at me 😂 I need to reread Binti! I listened to them on audiobook and I think that’s where I went wrong (I liked them but they were all 3 stars for me), because I physically read Remote Control after and I was so upset it wasn’t a longer book! Akata Witch is next on my radar!

I have found that Okorafor’s books are much better reading than listening. Also N. K. Jemisin’s! Actually, most sci fi and fantasy. Due to world-building probably. New worlds are HARD to understand on audio, I’ve found.

Oooh I’ll definitely keep that in mind when I get to Jemisin’s! They’re high on my radar and I want to make sure I don’t get confused once I get to them!
