May TBR!

Big month ahead! I have plans for May, mainly in the fact I’m doing my own little version of Mermay, which is usually an art thing that I only know about from watching from the Tumblr sidelines, because I am not an artist and don’t draw. But you know what I do do? Read!

(And write, but that’s for another day.)

There’s probably someone out there who’s already doing this, but I haven’t looked into it. I’m just gonna do my own little thing, but if you know someone who has something like this going, please let me know!

Okay, now, if you don’t know what Mermay is, it’s basically just the name. Mermaid May. So, I’ll be reading the mermaid (slash siren slash water-dwelling-people, it’s a mishmash) books on my shelves. I may also read some I don’t own, but I’ll be prioritizing the ones I do own, so those are the ones I’ll mention here. Other contenders can be found on my Mermay Goodreads shelf, which you can take a peek at if you want to see what else I’ll potentially be reading!

Let’s get into it!

From my shelves we have: Tempest Rising by Tracy Deebs, Skin of the Sea by Natasha Bowen, and Tangled Tides by Karen Amanda Hooper.

And then for the rest of my planned reads I have, they’re all ones I need to either read for something or with someone.

The Big Four by Agatha Christie is the next book in line for the Christie reading I’m doing with my mom and sister (we’re on The Murder of Roger Ackroyd right now), and I’m a little worried about it. I’ve heard many, MANY people say this is their least favorite out of all of Christie’s work.

I’ll also be reading The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang with my friend this month, though I’m not entirely sure we’ll finish it depending on how busy she is. I’ll certainly try to, though!

And, finally, I’ll be reading Sweet & Bitter Magic by Adrienne Tooley for Booksandlala’s Buzzwordathon prompt for May, which is “flavor”. I might be cheating a little bit since I think this was meant to be more, like, actual flavors, but I couldn’t not go for this one since it has two kinds of flavors in it!

(Okay. It’s more like tastes, but I’m trying! The only book I had was The Priory of the Orange Tree, and I might be buddy reading that later, so I couldn’t count it!)

And that’s my TBR for the month! I’m pretty excited for almost all of these (all but one), so I think it’ll be a good month!

Thanks for reading!

    1. Thank you!! There are more than I was expecting when I went hunting, tbh! A lot I’ve seen are older Little Mermaid retellings though, and I was kind of trying to find anything but that 😂 I got a few, at least!
